Heaven is Coming Down this Christmas

I love Christmas time – mostly because, here in South Africa, it is our long summer holiday. So Christmas means sun, the beach and relaxing with friends and family.

We also do celebrate the birth of Jesus – for all those who just started thinking how carnal I am! LOL And for all those who want to tell me Christmas is a pagan feast that I should not celebrate – I know. It is a well known fact that Jesus was born during the Feast of Tabernacles which is observed during September / October each year. Christians (and I) choose to celebrate it on 25 December. Christmas would be the season when Jesus probably would have been conceived. It follows that Christmas is a season of conceiving rather than birthing. However, you look at it – I like to celebrate Christmas as the time when Jesus came to earth. But, this is not the topic of my post.

I love watching the nativity plays that the children put on at this time of year. My favourite part is always when the Angel Gabriel comes to Mary to tell her that she is going to have a child. Mary’s faith and readiness to accept the Lord’s will always amazes me. I mean – an angel tells you that you are going to have a child (while unmarried and still a virgin) and he will be the Son of God. That is wild! I am not sure I would calmly have been able to say yes to that. But that is what Mary did. From a place of humility – she submits to the Lord, is overshadowed by the Holy Spirit and begins the journey to birthing Jesus.

As I have thought about that – this being the time when Jesus was conceived – I felt the Lord tell me that He is again overshadowing His sons who are ready to receive His word. God wants to release fresh vision from heaven. He wants to overshadow us, cover us with a tent of His presence and release the seed of His word to His sons. This Christmas, there is a spiritual conception taking place for those who are ready to receive it.

So what does it mean to conceive in the Spirit? We start by coming into His presence. We choose to spend time there, talking and sharing with God. We listen to His heart. We listen to the desires of His heart and let Him begin to align our heart with His. It is a time to dream with God. A time to lay aside the limitations of our thinking and reasoning and dream God’s dreams. Allowing Him to enlarge and stretch our faith and vision until we begin to see with His eyes.

We all quote that scripture from 1 Corinthians 2:9:

Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,

Nor have entered into the heart of man

The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.

Well, there are times when God wants to show us these things. He wants to open the eyes of our understanding so that we can see a new thing. I believe this is one such a season. This Christmas is a time to enter the tent of meeting. Set time aside to tarry with Him. Dream with Him. Allow him to impregnate you with a new spiritual reality. Let Him drop a new word in your spirit.

In 2016, God is birthing something new in the earth. The seeds are being sown into the wombs of His sons now. Humble yourself, go to the hidden place He has prepared for you and dream with him.
