If you did not know it before, let me be the first to remind you. There is going to be a war to take the Promised Land. And we are going to have to overcome some giants – up close – before that land will truly be ours. I know that God has new territory for us as His Body. I also know that the enemy is contending against us, to keep us from it!
In the last couple of weeks, I have seen the faces of some of these giants – and yes- they are big and scary. The enemy has heard that we are coming and is sending out his Goliaths to stop us. Financial disasters, sudden deaths, terminal illness prognoses, violent threats and car accidents. Unexpected spears thrown into our lives with vicious intent, to distract and derail us. These issues are not small. These are real enemies that can cause real damage, even death.
We have crossed over and God’s enemies know that we are about to take their territories from them. They know that we are going to overcome the places that have been demonic strongholds for centuries. So Satan is unleashing his giants against us. BUT I WANT TO REMIND US… God did not bring us to this season to kill us! He brought us here because it is our time to overcome the works of the enemy. Just as He was faithful to deliver us out of the bondage of our past and out of the iniquity of our generations, He will be faithful to deliver us from every new enemy that stands in our path. Now is not a time to be afraid. It is not a time to cower under the threats of the enemy. It is time to believe that God is God. He will DO what He has promised!
Remember that one of the disqualifying factors for Gideon’s army was fear. If our fear of the enemy is greater than our fear of the Lord, then we should not be in the forefront of this fight. Fear is one of the tactics which the enemy uses to place a hook into our lives. Once hooked, he can feed all kinds of lies and poisons into us which cause us to turn away from the Lord and align our thinking, words and actions with the enemy. God knows this and so He told Gideon to send home all those who were fearful and afraid.
Now we all have days when we waver in our faith – particularly when facing a big, ugly giant. And that is why we are part of a body. So that when we face those days, we do not do it alone. We have others standing around us to have our back and keep us upright, when our strength is failing. But apart from that, the Lord began to speak to me about another key to standing strong. And that is – the Fear of the Lord.
I believe that we all need a fresh understanding and revelation of the spirit of the fear of the Lord. We have been programmed to believe in the reality of the strength of the enemy. We believe in his strength to attack us. We believe that he can kill us. We believe that he has authority over this world. But what do we believe about our God? And I do not mean head knowledge. What do we really believe in our hearts about God. Do we really believe that He is good and omnipotent? Do we really believe that He overcame every power and principality at the cross? Do we really believe that He took our curses upon Himself at the cross? I think, if we are honest with ourselves, we need to admit that we have been brainwashed through media to see God as smaller and less powerful than the enemy. We operate from a place of defense instead of offense. We more readily believe in demons than in angels. This MUST change.
We need the spirit of the fear of the Lord to teach us again about God. We need ears to hear and eyes to see WHO it is that we serve. We need a new revelation of the Christ, the son of the Living God. After all it was Peter’s revelation in Matthew 16:18 that Jesus said He would build His Ekklesia on. And He is still building the same way. The Ekklesia is rising around the earth. A people who understand their rulership role, the government of God and how to legislate on behalf of heaven. They know how to prevail against the Gates of Hades to free those imprisoned in death, they know how to overcome giants and establish the Kingdom on earth as it is on Heaven. That Ekklesia is rising in the earth and it starts with a fresh revelation of The One whom we serve. And for that we need the spirit of the fear of the Lord. He will lead us into wisdom, knowledge and understanding of the Holy One. (Proverbs 1:7 and Proverbs 9:10)
As the giants are taking up their place in our territory, taunting the army of the Lord. We are engaging the spirit of the fear of the Lord to lead us into seeing the Lord high and lifted up. Armed with that revelation of Him, we can go forth in the power of the Lord to make the kingdoms of this world become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ.
