New Assignments Now
On the 1st of August I attended a funeral. As I watched the coffin being lowered into the ground, I believe I heard the Lord tell me that the the past season was over. Now that would be the type of thing you would think at a funeral, so I did not pay that much attention. But a few days later, I felt a shift in the spirit and remembered the Father's word to me.
We all know that there are different seasons in God. A time to mourn, a time to laugh, a time to build and a time to tear down. It is important for us to recognise the season we are in and also to align ourselves with what God is doing in that season. And now, in August 2015, one season is ending and another is starting.
I believe that this is a significant transition - as if we are moving from one dispensation to another. Which means that we should have finished our last assignment and be getting ready to receive our new ones. We see this clearly in the life of Paul when he addresses the elders at Miletus (Acts 20:17 - 35). He explained to them that he had completed his work among them in Ephesus. He had been faithful to complete his assignment from the Lord and was moving onto the next assignment. We see this same thing with Jesus - He clearly understood His assignments and knew when they were over.I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do. John 17:4
This August, God is handing out new assignments to us. The spiritual landscape is changing, new doors are opening, new horizons are appearing in front of us - it is time to receive our new assignment from the Lord. Nothing is random, your spiritual walk is not a lottery. You are following God's plan and blueprint for your life. This is not a time to be passive and have a 'let's see what happens' attitude. You need to actively lay hold of God's instruction for this new season. What new tasks are being assigned to you? What new seats of authority are you being called to occupy right now? What new connections and relationships are opening to you?
Remember the enemy does not want you to receive this new assignment. He has released all kinds of distractions to ensure that you completely miss what is happening on God's agenda. The enemy has put some believers to sleep, some he has made so comfortable that they have fallen into passivity and others have been made so busy, they are too exhausted to lay hold of God. Others have been plunged into fear of the future, a fear that is paralysing and leading many astray. Do not fall into these traps - Awake, you who sleep, arise from the dead , and Christ will give you light. Ephesians 5:14
It is time to go after God. Time to seek Him with all your heart. The first step is acknowledging we are ending one season and entering a new one. Look back on the last season, have you done all the things that God instructed you - both big and small? Have you finished your last assignment well? If you can say yes - then God is calling you higher. It is time to present yourself before His throne and receive YOUR new assignment.
